Introducing Aid Station #9….Girl’s Rite!

Please welcome for the first time at Running with the Bears, Girl’s Rite!  Girl’s Rite is an after school and summer program for local girls ages 11 to 18.  This program has been active in Plumas County since 2008, and is currently based in Quincy with plans to expand into Indian Valley.  The objective of this program is to connect Plumas County teen girls with themselves, their peers, local women, and the surrounding forest and community.  By offering a safe place and positive activities and connections, the Girl’s Rite program enables teen girls to no longer see violence and other negative actions as the norm or an option for their lives.  Girl’s Rite aims to increase self-esteem and help the girls find ways they can become leaders in their schools and community.

The Girl’s Rite aid station will be sponsored by their pre-teen and teenage girls, and they will be filled with energy!!!  Energy from their verbal support for the runners and from the healthy energizing snacks they will provide!  Marathon runners will stay motivated by reading some inspiring quotes while they grab a snack and water from this energizing booth!

If they win the contest, Girl’s Rite will use the money to provide healthy snacks and meals during their after school meetings, and to purchase supplies to make crafts and art projects.  So don’t forget to vote for the aid station with the BEST SNACK, BEST SPIRIT, and BEST THEME!!!
